Black Umbrella at a Grocery Store

Here's a very short story, sort of a shaggy dog story, that I had written in a creative writing workshop last year.

As a cashier, you get to see the oddest things at the grocery store. The other day, a gardener's truck pulled up in the front of the store, and a gardener leaped out. He carried a black umbrella which wouldn't be odd except that it was sunny out. He entered the store, opened up the umbrella and held it up like it was raining inside the store. He twirled it as he traversed up and down aisles, while other shoppers gave him bemused glances. He picked up random items for inspection and put them back. He finally ended up in my checkout lane with a bag of Epsom salts. As I rang up the item, I asked him what was the deal with the umbrella. "It repels vampires," he replied as he paid, and then left with the salts.
